Located in Pewsey, Wiltshire, UK, The Pewsey Wharf Boat Club was started in 1972 when the Canal was partially derelict. A group of enthusiasts got together and formed the club with the aim of both enjoying themselves and to improve the channel in the area by clearing the weed. They were also instrumental in saving Pewsey Wharf from private development, fighting to keep it as a public amenity.
The 2002 completion of the £25 million lottery project to save the canal has ensured that the canal is now in better shape than when first cut in the late 18th and early 19th century.
The club is now managed and run by a committee, whose officers are elected at each Annual General Meeting.
We hold a number of social events throughout the year, including social weekends with BBQs, cruises, joint activities with other clubs, and indoor events such as skittles and photographic competitions. A New Year Dinner is held in March.
